$\"JUST A BUNCH OF SURFERS TRYING TO PLAY FOOTBALL\" The Laguna Beach Breakers had a great season last year. Jimmy was named Head Coach and the team beat University for the 1st time in history...the Breakers started out great at 5-1, and then slipped the remainder of the season with an overload of injuries...but no excuses...they fought hard and went down swing\'n!$

$Shaun Baker of Fountain Valley HS sacks Edison\'s Tommy Grady. Out of 300 of the nation\'s top high school players invited to the Nebraske \"full-pads\" Football Camp, Shaun was ranked #4 overall at the camp\'s end. At 6\'6\" 200 lbs, Tommy Grady is the #1 sought after quarterback in the nation after leading his Edison Chargers to the 2001 CIF Division 1 Championship game last season vs. Long Beach Poly (Poly, 42-28).$ $Shaun Baker of FVHS makes the tackle vs. Long Beach Poly. Because of Baker\'s speed and fearless mindset, he is constantly making big hits.$

$Bryan Doguio (Cypress JC) was one of the premier shortstops throughout Southern California\'s junior colleges. His lateral quickness is second to none and has dramatically improved his game.$ $Jimmy and Chris hangin loose! Of all the great players I\'ve seen play, played against, and had the oppotunity to tackle, this guy is the one that sticks out in my concussion-ridden memory. Chris Fuamatu-Maafala (Pittsburg Steelers), in my opinion, is the most punishing running back in the NFL. Colliding with Chris everyday in practice made it seem easy when I had to tackle \"Heisman Trophy Winner Ron Dayne\" in the 1996 Copper Bowl. Chris played at about 285 lbs. at Utah and my head and shoulders felt those pounds on a daily basis. It was nice to play with such a killer and an honor to know such a great person.\" ~ Jimmy Nolan$ $Daniel Dixon of El Modena uses his speed to break away for 6 points against Laguna Hills. Dixon was one of the top RB\'s in California last season. Now he\'s a senior and is faster, stronger, and bigger (he\'s a solid CB on defense as well). ~Photo Compliments of M.Dougherty ~$ $Steve went from a typical \"big, heavy, strong lineman\" to a fast, quick, punishing tailback at Speed Kills. He then dominated every high school game he played in (opposing teams feared him). Watch out for this guy as he\'s now playing for the University of Utah. This guy will kill you...one of my all-time favorites$

$Foothill HS Football\'s lineman won the Orange County Lineman Championship this past summer. This team is dominated by the offensive line...the camaraderie between these guys is great. I believe they have outworked their opponents and will pave the way to a championship this season. It\'ll be fun to watch\'em (if you enjoy violence).$

$Here\'s a pic of the Grootegoed\'s with Dick Butkis. Matt and John\'s dad, \"Dr. Groot\" is the only reason I was able to play football for so long. That guy kept me healthy...he is a magical genious Doctor. John is my best friend. Matt will be the best defensive player in the NFL. He was the best player in college football the last couple years...and wasn\'t drafted...but was picked up by Tampa Bay and will start as a rookie...sometimes the NFL scouts are blind and fail to draft the obvious best choice...I wish they were blind when they looked at Matt\'s color. -Jimmy$ $The GWC \"Speed Kills\" crew.$ $Four of the sweetest Speed Kills hair-do\'s I\'ve seen thus far (compliments of the Foothill HS Football Team).$ $Jimmy Nolan, John and Matt Grootegoed (at John\'s Wedding on June 1, 2002)...By far, the best wedding I\'ve been to ~ John and Gabby ~ a perfect match.$ $Matt Grootegoed (MDHS \'00) back-pedals vs. Long Beach Poly in the 1998 Div. 1 CIF Championship game. Mater Dei won the game and Matt was named both Offensive and Defensive MVP. He was then named \"CIF Player of the Year\" that year (1998) and the next (Matt\'s senior year 1999-2000). Matt was the first player I ever coached, as his brother, John Grootegoed (my best friend), had me helping Matt since he was a lil\' kid. Then I got to coach him as i joined the Mater Dei staff (defensive backs) my 1st year out of college, 1998. I could make a whole website to explain how great it was to work with Matt. Bottom line: in my opinion, this is the best high school football player in the history of High School football$ $In all my years of football, I have never seen an offensive lineman like John Grootegoed. As goofy as he looks, this guy WILL tear your head off (and then either spit on you or step on your face). John played at San Jose State University and was their best offensive lineman. He punished every team they played (USC, Cal, Stanford, San diego State, etc...you name\'em, he hurt\'em)...If the NFL would accept a guy who \"isn\'t tall enough,\" by their standards, they\'d have gotten one mean assassin.$ $Jhonny Lazzarretti, one of the meanest players in Italia, makes a \"cut-back\" on his way to another 6 points...while a fight ensues in the background (very common in Italian football), led by #53 \"Robbie.\" -Jhonny, who goes by the name \"bella-figa\" is a tremendous athlete...Jhonny \"la Tirona\" and Jimmy are brothers when Jimmy plays in Italy. Jhonny\'s older brother \"Leo\" (similar Joe Montana) is the team\'s quarterback. Leonardo is known in Italia as the infamous \"Kulo-Grasso.\"$

$Mike Kotler, a 3 year veteran of Speed Kills, breaks a tackle vs. the LA City Champs- Carson Colts (this run won the game for FVHS). Mike is now a starting RB for the #1 NCAA Div. 3 team in the nation- Linfield University. Mike is only a freshman...very rarely will a freshman see playing time at such a football powerhouse. This guy\'s work ethic has made him an overachiever and given him the ability to dominate the RB position.$ $Lyndon Liti (Foothill HS) poses for the camera. Lyndon, only a junior, is the strongest lineman for the Knights. The Foothill line won the Orange County Lineman competition this past summer and is a big reason why Foothill Football will dominate this year. Lyndon\'s tremendous work ethic has made him faster and very powerful/explosive (2 time winner of the Speed Kills Fighting Competition). He is also definitely capable of playing fullback. It\'s a pleasure to train such a fierce competitor.$

$MTV\'s \"Laguna Beach, The Real OC\"... ever seen the TV show? Here\'s a picture of me coaching the famous star of the that show, Talan Torriero. I have never told anyone this but here\'s what really happened: my life goal was to be on the \"Real World\" on MTV.. I did everything possible and made it to the final cut...but my dream was shattered when they picked a guy named \"Puck\" instead of me.. so, i kept calling and trying to become famous. One day, they asked me to pretend to be the football coach in Laguna Beach and star on the \"Real OC\"...so, I became a star. Unfortunately, they cut all (every single one) of my scenes in the show when it aired this past year. But, my co-star Talan did a great job and won an \"Emmy\" for \"Best Actor of the Year.\" I still am acting as the coach hoping that one day they\'ll realize I\'m a star.$

$Brandon Doguio (Fountain Valley HS) takes a huge swing. Brandon played 2nd base this year for the Barons as they won the Sunset Leaugue Championship. His excellent play earned him a scholarship to the prestigious Pepperdine University. Brandon also was a 2 year starter on the football team at cornerback and receiver. The most impressive thing about this stud: he maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. This guy\'s a role-model!$ $Foothill HS learns how to work on lateral and \"change of direction\" speed.$ $Athletes of all sports come from everywhere (Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside, and other states) to train at Speed Kills. Why do these athletes travel so far?...because they want to be the BEST...word has spread quick- athletes know that when they\'re truly serious about working hard and training not to just be good, but to DOMINATE; it\'s time to go back to Speed Kills. In this picture, athletes work on \"quick-twitch\" muscles, balance, lateral-mobility, etc...$ $Javon Smith, running back for Golden West JC, works on his quickness during the \"Boxes\" at Speed Kills. Javon, only a freshman, will be a dangerous back this year: He\'s bigger than most fullbacks and because of his commitment to Speed Kills this year- is faster/quicker than most tailbacks. You won\'t see many guys this size move like Javon does...and if he can\'t run past you or around you, he\'ll run through you.$
