This is where we do all our “body maintenance” and keep healthy. All athletes have many little injuries they need to take care of on a daily basis. The faster we get, the more prone to injury we are.
Any age, male or female…regardless of what sport you play (especially you footballers getting beat up all the time), need to keep your body healthy. Think of your body like a race car. A race car needs great maintenance (a pit crew)…so does your body. Give me a call…I can help eliminate your injuries and give you the deep tissue massage needed to fix the injuries.
Your body also needs, at least one day a week, a “tune-up.” We won’t push you like we normally do at a typical Speed Kills session. We’ll fine-tune those “fast-twitch” muscles and keep the body in sync. You’ll work on coordination, footwork, balance, quickness, strength/explosion, and whatever else you might be lacking as your season wears on. We know you work hard with your own team and don’t want you to do “too much” (over-kill)…
Our Speed Kills “Body Maintenance” sessions are meant to keep the body performing at it’s peak level…to perform at it’s peak level it needs the proper maintenance to do so. We’ll take care of any injuries you have and get you feeling better in the shortest amount of time possible. If you are serious about being great, this is absolutely necessary.
You athletes need to understand you must put as much time into physical therapy as you do on your playing surface…
“As a skinny-fast-hard-hitting-athlete in a world of big-strong-heavy-giants, I was always banged up…I never would have lasted if I didn’t keep my body tuned-up…no one’s had more injuries than me; I understand what works and what doesn’t…however, If I knew then what I know now, I’d have gotten the right treatment/healing during those injured times, and maybe I’d still be playing today.”
-Jimmy Nolan, Speed Kills
I’ve been an athlete my ENTIRE life- since I could walk. My dad got me some custom football pads when they wouldn’t make’em small enough for 3 year olds and used to make me run into trees.
I know a whole lot about athletics and injuries.. DEALING WITH INJURIES (I KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT THAT)…so, I have been to more doctors, trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, Asian meditative healers, etc etc and etc You name it, I’ve been there and gotten that therapy.
Playing college and professional football at a mere 174 pounds, I have had more injuries, breaks, sprains, cuts/bruises, concussions, strains/pulls, and any/every “wear-and-tear” that you could imagine.
Athletes need to understand that they should put as much time into physical therapy as they do on the field, court, track, or weightroom. If you are a serious athlete, it is ESSENTIAL to have the right BODY MAINTENANCE. Most physical therapy places just take your money and try to keep you there for months. They are more worried about how much money they can bill your insurance, instead of trying to get you healthy right away. they want to keep you there as long as possible….and THEY ARE LAZY! They hook you up to silly machines and fancy gadgets that do NOTHING! A real HEALER is someone who uses their hands and WORKS HARD on your body…period.
I spent all 34 years of my life as a serious athlete. It is very common for serious athletes to receive serious injuries. About 6 years ago, I achieved the one injury commonly known as “the career ender” ~ complete-rupture of my achilles tendon, followed by “re-attachment” surgery…basically, I am a 34-year-old who looks like an athletic 25 year old, but occupies the wear-and-tear body of a 60+ year old; “lots of mileage on this used car.”
When you’ve been raised playing ball, made a living from it, and truly enjoyed it ~ IT’S HARD TO GIVE IT UP ~ EVEN WHEN YOUR BODY IS REPEATEDLY TELLING YOU TO STOP! …sometimes you can’t let it go…you feel like you NEED to keep competing…. I am that crazy guy that just can’t hang it up (a problem many life-long athletes get)…I need the challenge…the competition…the “unattainable” goal…or maybe I’m just an “adrenaline junky!”
My personal injury history
I had a complete Achilles tendon rupture and Achilles-reattachment a few years back and it doesn’t work correctly. I limp now and don’t walk like most people do,
AND I broke my left elbow when I was playing football against U of Oregon, never got it fixed, so it hurts and doesn’t work properly…
AND I broke a vertebrae during a big hit while I was playing in Europe but never got it fixed or rested. Hence, that doesn’t feel good either; especially when I turn my neck.
Also, I never got my hernia fixed so that bugs me every now and then.
I have broken every finger on both hands numerous times and never fixed any, so there’s lots of scar tissue built up and the hands don’t move like they used to.
Furthermore, I tore cartilage in my right knee against BYU my last collegiate game and that hurts because I never got it fixed.
I received a 3rd degree AC joint separation on my left shoulder while tackling 285 lb RB Chris Fuamatu Maafala (Pittsburg Steelers) during practice, on a daily basis at Utah, and never got it fixed; that is bugging me when I try to sleep.
I did the same thing to my opposite shoulder hitting Ron Dayne (NFL) in the Copper Bowl back in 1997.
I have a slight tear in my right shoulder from throwing too many passes every year during football practice, as a head high school football coach.
I broke my ribs on both sides numerous times and they still irritate me.
I was scheduled to fight again January of 2008, but my hips kept going out. After x-rays the doctor gave me a laugh and said, “I’m sorry to tell you this Jimmy, but you need surgery on both hips. You’ve worn out the ‘ball and socket’ through all your wear and tear.” So, I need two hip surgeries…but I’ve learned to “work around the injury” and can still beat most of you young bucks in a race.
Last, both of my hamstrings have been torn once or twice and I never really let them heal properly ~ so now there’s too much scar tissue.
Bottom-line, my body is a wreck. I tried making a comeback in football a few years back, but my achilles wouldn’t allow me to train properly ~ I can’t run…so, I needed some other kind of sport with an adequate amount of violence. So, I turned professional as a boxer and that has just made my body miserable.
BUT, RIGHT NOW I AM HEALTHIER THAN THE MAJORITY OF PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES BECAUSE I SPEND QUALITY TIME TAKING CARE OF MY BODY.
My advice to anyone with pain, or anyone who wants to be healthy: quit shopping around… I’ve been to everyone out there. Go right to the finish line:
COME SEE ME.
Make an investment in your body… If you feel good, you’ll be happy and your performance will improve. The old saying, “you get what you pay for” isn’t always true in our medical field. I have spent thousand$ on doctors that didn’t do a darn thing for me. So, I am my own doctor now and the world’s #1 “self-proclaimed healer.”
If you have a serious injury that requires serious medical help, I will direct you to the RIGHT DOCTOR. There are 1000’s of doctor’s out there…only a handful I would recommend. You need the right one for you. Athletes need to see doctors that understand ATHLETES. Allow me to make the right recommendation.
-Jimmy Nolan
“Jimmy’s healing techniques kept my body going strong. I had a bad groin, achilles, and hamstring that just would not heal. He’s always gotten me back to 100%. A few years back, I could barely walk after a hard 3 seasons on varsity…I entered the OC All Star game in the best condition I’ve ever felt, and was named MVP!”
-PJ Vallier, Trabuco Hills, Trabuco Hills Football
“My hamstring would not heal. I gave Jimmy a call and started getting treatment at his office at CoasTherapy. I am now ready to play and feel 100%. Anyone serious about being in great shape, call Jimmy.”
- Ahmed Mokhtar, Mater Dei Football
“I am a world champion boxer and was a USA Olympian. My hands have taken a lot of wear and tear. Speed Kills “Body Maintenance” got my hands feeling NEW again…I have seen every therapist and doctor in the world….when it comes to getting rid of injuries, Jimmy is in a class by himself…and not only is Jimmy the best I’ve ever trained with, he’s also the best I’ve learned from in how to treat my ailing injuries. I’ll never go to anyone else.”
- Jose Navarro, US Olympian & WBC Champion
